Smart Parking at Henkel
Reduzierung des Suchverkehrs auf über 2.000 Stellplätzen. So hat Henkel es geschafft!
Henkel by the Numbers

The industrial park in Düsseldorf-Holthausen, which is home to Henkel’s headquarters as well as other companies, employs 10,000 people. It also attracts approximately100,000 visitors annually. The 2,000 employee parking spaces were previously allocated according to the “fixed assignment” principle. However, since parking permits did not specify a specific parking space, this led to daily traffic congestion in the parking areas as drivers searched for spots and resulted in many instances of illegal parking.
Henkel has gained these benefits by using the ParkHere system
Optimierte Auslastung durch Vorabreservierung
More Targeted Allocation of Parking Spaces or Loading Zones Through User Group Management
Access Restricted to Authorized Persons via Automatic License Plate Recognition
In 2020, Henkel decided to digitize its parking management. The goal was to maximize the efficient utilization of the approximately 2,000 parking spaces and regain transparency regarding the parking area. With the implementation of ParkHere, parking spaces can now be reserved flexibly. Thanks to a sophisticated parking concept, specific user groups and visitors can be assigned parking spaces by reserving a spot. As a result, Henkel has managed to optimize parking space utilization so that there is one parking space for every 1.9 employees.
100% Detection of Unauthorized Parkers with ParkHere
Before implementing the ParkHere parking solution, unauthorized parking was one of the biggest challenges. Unauthorized vehicles were taking up the designated employee parking spaces, causing frustration among the staff. Since employees had to use other parking lots located outside the plant, they had to walk very long distances from the parking lot to their workplaces. With the ParkHere system, this is now a thing of the past!
The detection rate for unauthorized parkers is currently 100%, as only authorized vehicles are now permitted to enter the parking areas. This allows Henkel to better manage its own parking areas and assign parking spaces to employees that are located near the plant, thereby avoiding long walks to the office.
